COLOUR IS A POWER WHICH DIRECTLY INFLUENCES THE SOUL.
Wassily Kandinsky
Colours have a tremendous positive impact on our wellbeing.
The first known theory of colour was developed by Aristotle (384BC-322BC), who believed it was sent by God from heaven through celestial rays of light. Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) preferred to meditate in a lavender or purple-coloured light, it is said.
In 1666, English scientist Sir Isaac Newton (1643-1727) discovered that when
pure white light passes through a prism, it separates into all of the visible colours. He organized his findings in a colour wheel showing the three "primary colours" separated by the three "secondary colours".
In the 1700’s Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) suggested in his “A Theory of Colour”, that colour and light have subjective and emotional aspects.
How colours affect us
Yellow, red and blue are known as “Primary” colours.
Yellow: Optimistic and youthful
Red: Energetic
Blue: Trustworthy and sense of security
Green, orange and purple are known as “Secondary” colours.
Green: Wealth and calmness
Orange: Appetite stimulant and creativity booster
Three other popular message-driven colours are black, white and pink.
Black: Powerful and glamorous
White: Associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity
Pink: Romantic and feminine.
